A team of students at the National University of Singapore have just won the Electrolux Design Lab 2005 competition for their waterless washing machine. No, it’s not a dry cleaning machine, it’s a waterless washing machine. It uses negative ions, compressed air, and deodorizing goodness to huff and puff your clothes clean. Functional details, as you can probably tell, are quite sketchy. Do you lay your clothes on top of it? Place them inside? Maybe this will al be easier to figure out when the machine is released in 2020. If nothing else, it looks great, almost like a puffed-up Apple G5 for your clothes.

Wonder about energy consumption. Bet it could even be design in several sizes. Where can I see a pic?

You could see a pic by clicking on the word “won” in the blog post… but it has since been taken down. Looks like we’re out of luck.

No idea on energy consumption.. it was a conceptual model at the time.
