thanks for this! i had the same thought, precisely! why not train every other week or so, in open water for triathlons? except my triathlon goals aren’t for another year, so i have 2 summers to train in open water
by the way, i’m a geographer… and i GREATLY appreciate your mapmaking!

Also, i found that Curl Burke Masters in the DC-NOVA area does organized open water swim practices in late summer at Pohick Bay Regional Park… no updated schedule yet for this summer, but thought you might be interested in case ur looking to join a masters team. http://www.cubu-masters.org/content/section/1/2/.

i always use Swimming as may daily exercise, it is much better than jogging and running*::
